For weeks, the political opposition—led by Kalonzo Musyoka and his allies—has been on a campaign trail across Ukambani, gaslighting the community and demonizing leaders who dared to visit State House for a consultative forum with the President. These leaders were branded sell-outs, accused of betraying the Kamba community for personal gain. But today, reality has come knocking — and it comes in the form of concrete, visible development.
In a Gazette notice published today, five major roads across Ukambani have been officially earmarked for upgrading to bitumen standards. These include:
- Kangundo-Mwala (Machakos County)
- Mutomo-Isaa (Kitui County)
- Kamuwongo-Kandwia and Zombe-Chuluni (Kitui County)
- Emali-Ukia (Makueni County)
This is no coincidence. These projects are the direct result of leaders choosing dialogue over noise, consultation over confrontation. While others were busy politicking and recycling empty rhetoric, a few brave leaders chose to engage constructively with the national government—and now, the results are starting to show.

It is time the people of Ukambani asked themselves: what has the endless opposition rhetoric delivered for us over the last two decades? What tangible progress can we point to from those who only speak when it’s politically convenient, but go silent when it’s time to deliver?
The future of Ukambani will not be built on victimhood and tribal emotions—it will be built on roads, water, jobs, and investment. And those will only come when we choose partnership over posturing.
This moment should serve as a turning point. Let the opposition continue talking; let them hold their rallies. But as a community, we must choose development. We must walk with those ready to roll up their sleeves and work. The time for politics without purpose is over. Ukambani is ready to grow — and we cannot afford to be left behind again.
