Controversial youth political figure David Muvaluku, popularly known as “Katajiri,” has officially made a dramatic return to the political camp of Principal Secretary for Livestock Development, Jonathan Mueke. This move, announced through a heartfelt statement posted on his social media pages, marks a significant shift in Kitui Central’s youth political landscape.
In his statement, Katajiri issued a public apology to PS Mueke and his entire secretariat for past remarks, admitting that he had made serious misjudgments during his time aligned with a former Cabinet Secretary. He acknowledged having attacked PS Mueke online and mocked him in various public forums—actions he now regrets deeply.
“I have reformed,” Katajiri wrote. “I am committed to supporting PS Mueke’s initiatives, campaigns, and vision for sustainable livestock growth, grassroots empowerment, and regional development.”
The apology comes in the wake of CS’s exit from government, a development that appears to have influenced Katajiri’s reassessment of his political affiliations. Despite previously praising the unnamed CS and even naming his daughter after her, Katajiri now admits that the former CS never offered him any meaningful opportunities or empowerment.
He credited PS Mueke for shaping his early political life, including introducing him to then-Deputy President William Ruto, now the President of Kenya. “PS Mueke was the one who believed in me when I was just a boda-boda rider. He stood with me, mentored me, and gave me access to national leadership,” his statement read.

The self-styled youth mobilizer now says he is focused on mending relationships, restoring trust, and preparing for a future in elective politics. He emphasized that his return is not driven by desperation but by a genuine desire to work with progressive leaders who value integrity and development.
The move has triggered mixed reactions online, with some followers praising his humility while others remain skeptical of his motives. Nonetheless, the statement signals a new chapter for the once-controversial political activist, who now seeks to redefine his role in Kitui’s evolving political arena.
Katajiri’s re-entry into PS Mueke’s camp could potentially consolidate youth support for the Livestock PS, whose recent performance in the ministry has won him accolades in Kitui and beyond.
Whether this political reawakening will translate into long-term loyalty remains to be seen, but for now, the prodigal son has returned—and with it, the political drama in Kitui Central takes yet another turn.
